Literary Genius

A while back, for a Meme Machine project, we came up with a violent nursery rhyme designed to scare kids into obedience (specifically, tidying their bedrooms). I was bored on the train so I came up with another one. Hope you like it:

"Eat Your Greens"

This is a cautionary tale
For kiddies who won't eat their kale,
Broccoli, cabbage or such other
Greens as kindly cooked by Mother.

Let's look, shall we, at little Grace
Who willingly would stuff her face
With cheese and toast and meat and beans
But never EVER eat her greens!

It seems this was a sad mistake;
One meal, again, her head did shake
Refusing stubbornly to eat
When suddenly off dropped her feet.

Despite her parents' healthy pleas
Her shins went next, and then her knees.
An arm hung limp half off its shoulder
(She should have listened to what they'd told her).

These days, it seems, the child is keen
To munch and chew on food that's green
But really, fed by mum, she has no
choice - she's little more than torso.
